Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery

Schedule

• Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Weekends: Every third weekend required
• Float: Required to Mother/Baby (mother assignment only)
  
  

Requirements

• Experience:
• Minimum 3 years Labor & Delivery
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Community hospital experience required
• Travel experience preferred but not required
• Certifications:
• Required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Beginner
• Preferred: AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced
• Charting Systems: Epic and Centricity (preferred)
• Scrubs: Dark blue
  

Skills & Procedures

• Labor & Delivery:
• Assist with vaginal and high-risk deliveries
• Circulate and recover C-sections
• Amnioinfusion, forceps/vacuum extraction
• Hemorrhage/shock management
• Sterile vaginal exams
• Neonatal Care:
• APGAR scoring, resuscitation, radiant warmers
• Cord care, hypoglycemia management
• Postpartum Care:
• Cesarean and vaginal delivery recovery
• Breastfeeding support, fundus/lochia care
• Postpartum hemorrhage, PIH, multiple births
• Medication Administration:
• Magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, Terbutaline
• Anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, insulin drips
• Monitoring & Emergency Response:
• External/Internal fetal monitoring
• IUPC placement
• Rapid response team participation
• Other:
• IV therapy, blood product administration
• Pain management (epidural, PCA)
• Isolation precautions, vaccine administration

• Daily Census: 7
• Rooms/Beds: 12
• Births/Month: 100–300
• Common Diagnoses:
• Low/high-risk pregnancies
• VBACs, cesarean sections
• PIH, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, IDDM
• Multiple gestations
