Position Description

Overview

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Prescription Refill RN for our office located in Norfolk.

Responsibilities

Prescription Management – Reviewing and processing refill requests from pharmacies or patients, verifying the appropriateness of refill.

Collaboration with Healthcare Providers – Working closely with doctors and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care and to address any potential issues with medications.

Medication Education – Providing information about medications, including proper usage, to help patients manage their health effectively.

Record Keeping – Maintain accurate records of patient interactions and medication history/refill approvals to ensure compliance and quality care.

Position Entails - Strong organization skills, attention to detail, solid understanding of patient care practices, and ability to follow through independently on work.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education required; BSN preferred
  • Oncology experience strongly preferred
  • Current RN state license required
  • Current BCLS certification required
  • OCN certification preferred

Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
