Summary:

The Registered Nurse will deliver competent and skilled care to patients and families according to their identified needs. Nursing care is based on the nursing process and augments the medical plan of treatment. The Registered Nurse will deliver care with a team-orientation, an emphasis on good customer relations, sound clinical judgment and appropriate decision-making abilities that take into consideration evidenced based practice.

$82.50/hr plus shift diffs

10% Completion Bonus at the end of the assignment if all requirements are met.

Weekend Requirements

  • Days of orientation starting the first day of the assignment must be completed. Monday - Thursday 8am - 5pm


22 Week Assignment Dates: (Start date will be determined by the Department)

9/22/25 - 2/21/26

10/5/25 - 3/7/26 (Internal Only)*

10/6/25 - 3/7/26

11/4/24 - 4/4/26

  • Internal Employees must currently be a .5 FTE or less to qualify for Winter Plan.


Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • 2 years of RN experience or successful completion of a Cook Children's Winter Plan contract.
  • Pediatric experience preferred.
  • Please note that you may be required to float to other units as needed based on patient care needs, this will include the NICU. Nurses in this role may be expected to care for stable newborns, including those on room air or high flow nasal cannula. These patients will not be on cardiac drips or other complex infusions as defined by the NICU team. It is strongly preferred that applicants have a basic understanding of newborn care to ensure safe and effective support when floating


Certification/Licensure:

  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas required.
  • Current BLS required
  • PALS or NRP strongly encouraged and if presented upon hire, must maintain certification without lapsing.
  • Certification as necessary in certain areas in the Medical Center.
