Overview
Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Prescription Refill RN for our offices located in Suffolk.

- Acts as a palliative care consultant to an interdisciplinary team for complex pain and symptom management issues
- Works in collaboration with clinical social work, advanced practice providers, patient navigators and nursing staff
- Educates and counsels patients and families about the disease process and end of life issues
- Evaluates and records patient and family response within practice protocol
- Serves as liaison to physicians and community at large. Maintains good communication and collaborative relationships with referring physicians and other medical staff to ensure patients are receiving necessary care
- Responsible for managing and mentoring site staff to ensure adequate coverage and quality care. Leads team meetings that address, discuss and train on palliative care techniques
- Demonstrate adaptability while handing day-to-day work challenges and adjusting to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change.
- Develop patient schedule to meet the demands of traveling rotation between Western Tidewater offices.
- Demonstrates flexibility.
Qualifications
- BSN required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of Nursing experience, Palliative Care preferred.
- Certification in Hospice Palliative Care Nursing preferred.
- Two (2) years of management experience preferred.
- Appropriate RN state licensure required.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Must be willing to travel to the various practice locations.
