Position Description
Job Summary
The RN applicant will coordinate total patient centered care ensuring optimal service to the communities we serve.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate consistent use of nursing process in daily practice and manages more complex patients
- Identify personal learning needs, assist other staff members in identifying learning needs and develop corrective action plan
- Promotes T/L process
- Facilitate interdisciplinary problem solving
- Monitor practice issues of the interdisciplinary health care team that impact finances and implements appropriate control measures
- Leads by participating in a nursing research study and/or nursing research utilization project to improve nursing knowledge and practice
- Schedule patients, orders medications, and obtain authorization for medications.
- Administer IV infusions and transfusions in an outpatient setting
- Provide wound care in an outpatient and inpatient setting
- Administer medication injections to scheduled and walk in patients
- Formulate plans of care that have long range effect on patient care
- Act as a role model which facilitates positive behavior in dynamic group setting
- Identify potential legal/ethical issues and implement strategies to prevent problems
- Participate in the continuous quality improvement activities of the department and institution
- Maintain and document all applicable required education
- Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations
- Perform work in a cost-effective manner
- Perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including but not limited to, overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations
- Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization
- Manages telecardiology and telehealth programs
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages.
The employee must be able to demonstrate competence in:
- Ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs
- Knowledge of growth and development
- Understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.
Education
- RN License (Required)
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing
- 1 year of RN experience wound care certification with 2 years of employment
- May substitute formal nursing program for associate’s degree
Credentials
- Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life must be obtained within 1 year of hire
