POSITION DESCRIPTION
PNP is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who specializes in caring for newborns, infants, toddlers, adolescents and young adults. PNPs focus on well-child care and the prevention or management of common pediatric acute illnesses and chronic conditions
The role of the primary care pediatric nurse practitioner is to provide care to children from birth through young adult with an in-depth knowledge and experience in pediatric primary health care including well child care and prevention/management of common pediatric acute illnesses and chronic conditions.
Pediatric Nurses use specialized nursing skills for their young patients. Here are some of their duties and responsibilities:

- Willing to precept
- Check in child patients, evaluating their symptoms and checking their vital signs
- Complete diagnostic tests
- Administer medications or minor procedures
- Create a treatment plan or coordinate follow-up medical care
- Educate family members on treatment options
- Diagnose patients with illnesses or injuries
- Conduct regular physicals and check-ups
- Prescribe appropriate treatments
- Order tests and vaccinations
Requirements and Education
- Master's degree in pediatric nursing
- RN license in New Jersey
- Several years of nursing experience
- Experience working with children (preferred)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills
