The listed minimum pay reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).

Position Overview

IMPORTANT: This is NOT a remote position. In this role, for 2 days a week you will work with nuclear stress testing and for 3 days a week you will work with patients in the cardiology office.

Essential Functions

  • Reviews medical history and records, addressing any potential problems prior to preparing patient for cardiac diagnostic testing. Performs independently, assessing patients and assuring the patient is appropriately stable to undergo testing.
  • Assesses patient condition and/or status by interviewing patient, performing physical examination, and continuously monitoring, discussing any problems with the LIP before, during and after the procedure.
  • Performs completely all nursing functions related to procedure, assisting LIP during all aspects of the procedure, recording the procedure, operating all equipment, maintaining a sterile environment and completing all related clerical functions.
  • Assists LIP with cardiac stress testing, administering pharmacological agents as needed.
  • Follows up on internal resources to determine the outcome of interventions completed by other departments. Mobilizes resources in complex cases to maximize patients control and participation over recovery.
  • Provides information and interpretation of the patient's condition and offers coping mechanisms. Assesses how much information a patient wants and needs, using a vocabulary and approach that enables the patient to comprehend given information.
  • Educates the patient and family in preparation for procedure; provides discharge instructions. Provides patient and family with accurate information regarding health problems, enabling them to become active participants in health care decisions. Confers with treatment team regarding special needs of patient and family, upon discharge.
  • Integrates assessment and diagnostic information with intuition to foresee potential age-specific healthcare needs. Anticipates deterioration while recognizing the importance of reacting quickly and appropriately without overreacting. Thoroughly and accurately documents clinical changes, interventions and outcomes.
  • Grasps intuitively the problem and oversees a clinical situation by mobilizing available resources. Displays the ability to rapidly grasp the threatening emergency and initiates treatment measures.
  • Documents patient's records according to the nursing process, ANA Code for Nurses and Capital Health Patient Services Division Standards of Practice. Performs, teaches and demonstrates technical skills specific to assigned area.
  • Identifies proactively issues to be resolved related to patient education for medication management. Participates in various aspects of unit based chart review and departmental performance improvement activities related to documentation. Develops, revises and administers department based orientation plan.
  • Organizes unit activities to mobilize resources in a changing environment. Displays competency in charge and preceptor roles. Follows established policies and procedures for attendance, punctuality and continuing education. Displays ability to see the entire unit and is self-motivated to develop a plan for adjusting staffing patterns.
  • Code cart checks daily, Glucometer checks daily, Temperature logs daily and ordering of medications and replacing medications prior to expiration.
  • Acknowledges and includes patients' family during communication with the patient, as appropriate and as designated by ambulatory patient.
  • Assesses need for patient education. Plans, implements and documents patient education and evaluates and documents patient comprehension and compliance. Calls patients to explain laboratory and test results under the direction of the LIP. Explains preparations and procedures to patient.
  • Obtains and records patient history. Reviews laboratory and other test results daily and prioritizes them for LIPs according to established protocol. Prepares patients, exam rooms and medical records for scheduled and non-scheduled patients.
  • Calls in prescriptions to pharmacies under the direction of the LIP.
  • Completes competency checklist with their preceptors.
  • Documents quality control for waived testing and sterilization of instruments as required according to established policies and procedures. Performs Quality Assurance activities as defined by Ambulatory setting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and may be assigned to other Capital Health Medical Group Practices as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or graduation from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred. NJ or PA license based on primary state office location or multi-state compact license required. Must have applied for second out of state RN license (NJ or PA) within three months from date of hire. If working in CH Clinics, Wound Management, Maternal Fetal Medicine, or Occupational Health, only NJ RN license is required.
  • Two years critical care experience or training including cardiopulmonary assessment, IV insertion, cardioversion and advanced dysrhythmia recognition.
  • AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider,Registered Nurse - NJ,Registered Nurse - PA,Registered Nurse – NJ or Registered Nurse – NLC multi-state
