Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevents illness and injury, and alleviates suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human responses and through advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN is accountable for compliance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights. The RN fosters a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Serve as the primary or accountable nurse, ensuring safety, effectiveness, and quality care delivery.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely and accurately per company policy.
• Contribute to productivity, time management, staffing, and resource utilization.
• Maintain compliance with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Support the Nursing Shared Governance Model and unit-based councils.
• Participate in professional development, continuing education, and mandatory training.
• Integrate evidence-based practice and nursing research into care delivery.
• Provide mentorship and support to new staff and students.
• Uphold company f values and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience:

• 6 months – 3 years of nursing (RN) experience.
• 0 – 3 years of management experience.
• 5+ years of direct patient care experience.
• Critical Care/ICU-level experience.
• Hands-on experience with ventilators, vasoactive gtts, and sedative gtts.
• Completion of ICU Skills Checklist.
• Strong skills in collaboration, communication, judgment/critical thinking, planning, problem-solving, quality, reliability, and safety/risk management.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Epic EMR experience.
• Previous acute care or ambulatory nursing experience.

Education

• Required: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Certifications & Licensure

Required:

• Current NYS RN License.
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• ACLS Certification.
• NIHSS Certification.
• Compliance with unit-specific requirements.

Preferred:

• Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
• Additional unit-relevant certifications (e.g., PALS, TNCC).
