Must-Have Requirements:
- Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Must be able to work with little or no direct provider input
- Previous experience working in corrections, an assisted living facility, or a similar environment with little provider oversight
Qualification Plusses:
- Public Health background is highly preferred
- An infection control background is highly preferred
- Experienced in conducting phlebotomy
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and self-motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our state government clinical team in Kansas City, KS. This role requires a high level of independence and clinical judgment, with minimal direct provider oversight. The nurse will play a key role in patient care coordination, infection control, and public health initiatives within a correctional or assisted living setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in daily and weekly team meetings to review patient care plans and task lists.
- Manage a caseload of patients, performing clinical tasks such as:
- Administering Tuberculin Skin Tests (TSTs)
- Collecting sputum samples
- Conducting patient intakes and assessments
- Performing phlebotomy
- Complete and maintain accurate documentation in both paper EMRs and Epitrax systems.
- Communicate daily with providers via email to request and follow up on medical orders (e.g., x-rays, medications).
- Attend virtual or in-person training sessions as required.
- Adhere to strict infection control and safety protocols.
- Complete required training through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE).
Work Schedule is Monday-Friday, 8-4
