About The Unit

  • The Mount Carmel Grove City Labor and Delivery/Mother Infant has 9 labor rooms, 4 triage rooms, 4 PACU bays on L&D and 18 private rooms on Mother Infant. On Labor and Delivery, you will care for new moms through the labor, delivery, and immediate post partum period, you will care for newborns in their first few hours of life, you will prep, circulate, and recover cesarean section patients, and in rare cases you may need to help support moms who experience pregnancy loss at different stages of their pregnancy. On Mother Infant, you will care for new moms and babies after they recover on labor and delivery. You will help moms bond, breastfeed, and care for themselves and their newborns, you will do patient teaching, and will discharge moms and babies home once they are deemed ready.

About The Job

Our Nurse Manager's serve as the unit level manager to plan, organize, staff, direct and ensure collaborative multidisciplinary patient care delivery. This position will manage both Labor/Delivery and Mother Infant units.

The Nurse Manager provides coaching, direction, and supervision of the unit/area and all staff members.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the planning and implementation of department education/training which promotes professional competence and personal growth and ensures optimal patient care.
  • Ensures financial performance and profitability through the development and monitoring of the operating and capital budgets for designated area/unit.
  • Directs all quality monitoring for designated area, focusing on optimal patient outcomes, regulatory compliance, risk management, and continuous quality and process improvement program for unit services.
  • Develops departmental standards, policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols.
  • Maintains awareness of department/service area operations and potential for problems through regular rounds and interaction with physicians and staff.
  • Collaborates with all disciplines on the healthcare team and within the Organization to establish goals and meet objectives.
  • Models and promotes professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Master's degree required.
  • Graduate from school of nursing; Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio
  • Minimum of two year's recent and relevant clinical experience
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess, develop and mentor a patient care team
