Position Description
Job Title: Med/Surg – Travel
Start Date: September 2, 2025
End Date: December 2, 2025
Schedule: 36 hours/week, 12-hour shifts, rotating days/nights, every 3rd weekend. Floating required as needed. ECG exam during orientation.
Position Overview:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality nursing care to patients in a Med/Surg setting. This includes direct patient care, education for patients and families, and managing transitions of care. The RN will adhere to the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice.
Key Responsibilities:
·Deliver direct patient care and coordinate nursing services
·Educate patients and families on health conditions and care plans
·Manage transitions of care across settings
·Document care accurately and timely
·Serve as a mentor and informal leader within the unit
·Participate in quality improvement initiatives
·Delegate tasks based on skill level, experience, and patient needs
·Float to other units as needed
Required Qualifications:
·Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate, associate, or diploma nursing program (ACEN or CCNE recognized)
·If not graduated from an accredited program, must have at least 1 year of RN experience in the last 5 years
·If graduation occurred more than 2 years ago, must have 1 year of RN experience in an applicable care setting
·Current RN license in applicable state (Wisconsin)
·Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification (must not expire within 3 months of start date)
·Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
·Completion of ECG exam during orientation
Preferred Qualifications:
·Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Stepdown settings
·Strong communication and mentoring skills
·Ability to work independently and collaboratively
·Willingness to float and adapt to different units
