Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical | Mercy Regional Medical Center – Durango, CO

Position Summary

The Med/Surg RN provides compassionate, coordinated care by assessing patient needs, implementing care plans, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. This role requires strong clinical skills, adaptability, and a commitment to quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs
• Develop and implement individualized care plans
• Administer medications, perform wound care, IVs, catheterization, and specimen collection
• Educate patients and families on health conditions and treatments
• Advocate for patient safety and rights
• Collaborate with healthcare teams for coordinated care
• Delegate tasks per hospital policy and state regulations
• Participate in quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives
• Maintain professional development and documentation standards
• Float to other units or facilities as needed
  
  

Qualifications

Required:

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Active RN license (Colorado or compact state)
• BLS (AHA), ACLS, NIHSS certifications
  
  

Preferred

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
• 1+ year of Med/Surg experience
