Position Description

Critical Care Transport Registered Nurse (CCT-RN)About the Role

The role involves handling inter-facility transports, moving critically ill patients from one hospital or facility to another. The acuity level of these patients can vary greatly. The CCT-RN is responsible for managing the patient's critical care needs while a certified EMT drives the vehicle. The ideal candidate will have the humility and character to be a strong team player in this demanding environment.

  • Locations: The primary station locations are Fife, Mountlake Terrace, Totem Lake, and Burlington.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

Must-Haves:

  • Experience: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Emergency Department (ER).
  • ICU experience is strongly preferred
  • Driving Record: A clean driving record is a non-negotiable. Candidates must have:
  • At least 2 years of driving experience.
  • No more than 2 driving infractions within the last 36 months.
  • No DUIs or reckless driving convictions in the last 10 years.
  • Compliance: All candidates must pass a background check and drug screen, and provide proof of COVID-19, booster, and flu vaccinations.
  • Certification: An EMT certification must be obtained upon hire. The company offers a bridge program to help new hires get up to speed.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Pay: The pay range is $51.91 - $70.44 per hour
  • Schedule: This role requires working 24-hour shifts, typically two shifts per week, for a total of 48 hours. Schedules can be variable and are based on a 2-week rotation.
  • Example Rotation:
  • Week 1: Tuesday and Saturday
  • Week 2: Tuesday and Thursday
  • Shift start times can vary (6:00 AM, 7:00 AM, or 8:00 AM), with the new hire's final schedule being confirmed at the time of the offer.

Interview & Training Process

The Interview: The interview process consists of a single round and includes both a traditional interview and a computer-based assessment.

  • In-Person Interview (Preferred): The interview takes place at either the Mountlake Terrace or Fife station and will be with one or two members of the leadership team.
  • Assessment: Following the interview, candidates will complete a 20-question critical thinking assessment on a computer. This is not a pass/fail test; it's designed to gauge a candidate's critical thinking skills.
  • Review: A manager will sit with the candidate to review the assessment, discussing their answers and rationale to understand their clinical thought process.

Training:

  • New hires will undergo a structured training and orientation period, including an EMT bridge program.
  • The first 30, 60, and 90 days are focused on getting new hires fully integrated and proficient in their role. They will be paired with an experienced EMT until they complete their training and are comfortable managing a patient independently.
