Job Summary And Qualifications

  • Coordinates trauma services/systems to ensure compliance with trauma center designation standards. Demonstrates excellence in practice through full role functions: practitioner, educator, consultant, and leader.
  • Develops and reviews policies and procedures in relation to trauma care of patients. Develops and implements trauma protocols, participates in trauma patient rounds to identify issues and evaluate solutions.
  • Serves as a liaison for the MS with pre-hospital providers, other trauma centers, tertiary centers, regional hospitals, and community and government agencies. Develops and maintains quality improvement to obtain objective data for overall analysis of the trauma program and development of improved methods of care to ensure quality trauma care.
  • Actively participates and represents the MHS in local, state, regional and national organizations that support trauma system development. Supervises and guides the Trauma Registrar in the development and implementation of the trauma registry for the MHS.
  • Assists in monitoring productivity and quality and identifies areas for improvement, supervises and guides the Injury Prevention Coordinator in the development and implementation of injury prevention activities targeting the trauma patient population.
  • Manages personnel to include interviewing, work allocation, orientation and training, staff development, problem resolution, evaluating performance, making recommendations for personnel actions, and motivating employees to achieve peak performance. Is responsible for their employee’s output and conduct. Will conducts feedbacks of supervised employees in a timely manner.

What you will do in this role:

  • Coordinate and evaluate Trauma Program activities.
  • Monitors program outcomes and overall performance.
  • Manage the trauma registry, including collecting data, coding, scoring, and developing processes for the validation of data.
  • Partner with clinicians and patients related to trauma care through the continuum.
  • Provide appropriate feedback based on data review and observation.
  • Work with educators on developing patient teaching materials and staff training materials.
  • Coordinate clinical education for hospital, EMS providers, and community.
  • Participate in local and state trauma organizations.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Mandatory: BSN
  • Mandatory: Minimum of three years of recent hospital nursing experience in Critical Care or Emergency nursing
  • Prefer: Trauma Nursing Care Course, or Advanced Trauma Life Support Course, TNCC Instructor
  • Mandatory: Texas RN License & BLS
  • Prefer: Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course or Pediatric Advanced Lifer Support
