Position Description

  • Title: RN – Operating Room- Ambulatory Center
  • Location: Houston, TX
  • Duration: 19 weeks
  • Schedule: Days 5x8 hours
  • Shift: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Workdays: Monday – Friday
  • Hourly Blended Pay Rate: $50.00 – $55.00

Education:

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years as RN in Operating Room within an Ambulatory Surgery Center or hospital setting
  • Experience across multiple service lines preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Texas RN License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Clinical Activities

  • Deliver nursing care in alignment with the Texas Nurse Practice Act at a professional RN level.
  • Conduct patient assessments, assist with exams and treatments, and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Provide culturally competent care while respecting diversity and inclusion standards.
  • Respond to common clinical situations and patient care needs within the surgical setting.
  • Document care accurately and promptly in accordance with protocols.
  • Offer clear verbal and written post-procedure instructions tailored to patient understanding.
  • Maintain unit readiness by performing supply checks and ensuring cleanliness.
  • Actively participate in preoperative calls and patient preparation.
  • Support leadership by completing assigned duties as needed.

Quality & Safety

  • Follow all regulatory, accreditation, and professional practice standards.
  • Coordinate care for complex patients and adapt interventions based on their condition.
  • Report safety incidents or near misses and collaborate on performance improvement efforts.
  • Promote a safe environment by keeping hallways clear, equipment functional, and hazards reported.

Customer Service

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members regarding care timelines and updates.
  • Prioritize patient needs and advocate for them in clinical or ethical situations.
  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with physicians and patients.
  • Clearly explain ASC policies to prevent confusion or miscommunication.
  • Uphold and reflect the mission and values of the organization in all interactions.
