Position Description
Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an excellent opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Specialist (Special Needs Coordinator – Exceptional Family Member Program) to support a U.S. Military Treatment Facility. This position plays a key role in ensuring the health, well-being, and support of service members and their families.
Qualifications:Graduate of an associate (ADN) or baccalaureate (BSN) degree program in nursing accredited by a national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (additional certifications may be required).
Minimum of 3 years of full-time experience for ADN or 2 years of full-time experience for BSN in nursing and care coordination.
Current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in any U.S. state/jurisdiction.
Board certification as required for role.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (SNC) will provide professional nursing expertise and oversight for the Exceptional Family Member Program-Medical (EFMP-M) at the installation, ensuring compliance with DoD and Air Force policies. Duties include but are not limited to:
Oversee and manage the EFMP-M program, ensuring timely identification and enrollment of service members’ family members with special medical or educational needs.
Use clinical assessment skills to support effective outreach, collaboration, and case management with multidisciplinary teams.
Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance in Air Force EFMP-M data systems and provide clinical training to staff as needed.
Participate in the Family Member Relocation Clearance (FMRC) process, coordinating screenings and travel clearances for families assigned to overseas bases.
Provide oversight of Special Needs (SN) files at the MTF and ensure ongoing contact with Q-coded sponsors to address unmet needs.
Collaborate with Integrated Delivery Systems, Airman & Family Readiness Centers, and civilian/community agencies to coordinate resources.
Support integration of EFMP-M with EFMP-FS (Family Support) and EFMP-A (Assignments) services.
Conduct quarterly case reviews, identifying clinical needs and coordinating necessary resources.
Participate in facility meetings, clinic orientation, staff training, and program evaluations.
Maintain documentation, data reporting, and medical record compliance in accordance with MTF/AF/DoD guidelines.
Ensure adherence to safety, infection control, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), and quality standards.
