Position Description

Job Title: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Full-Time Nights)

Job Summary

We are seeking compassionate and skilled Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nurses to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to provide exceptional patient care, utilizing the nursing process. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, assisting with exams and treatments, educating patients, and maintaining accurate medical records.

Position Details

  • Schedule: Full-Time Nights
  • Facility Level: Level 4 Maternal Designated Facility
  • Unit Size: 12 labor beds, 19 antepartum beds, 4 swing beds
  • Volume: Approximately 400-450 deliveries per month

Education

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required

Licenses/Certifications

  • Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
  • Additional certifications may be required based on unit needs

Experience

  • At least 1-1.5 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience in an acute care setting
  • RN experience levels accepted:
  • RN I: <1 year
  • RN II: 1-3 years
  • RN III: 3-10 years
  • RN IV: 10+ years

  • Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients, appropriate to their age and needs
    • Coordinate nursing care planning with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
    • Collaborate, direct, and delegate appropriately to achieve optimal patient outcomes
    • Develop and implement treatment and discharge plans
    • Participate in continuous process improvement and quality initiatives
    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and scope of practice requirements
    • Support professional growth by completing continuing education and mentoring newer staff
    • Promote a culture of compassion, patient-centered care, and safety
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Candidate Profile

    Ideal Candidates Will Have

    • Recent, relevant acute care experience in L&D
    • Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
    • Flexibility to work full-time night shifts
    • Commitment to patient safety, quality, and excellent patient experiences
