Compensation: $95,000 – $140,000 base salary (commensurate with experience)
About The Opportunity
Our client, a rapidly growing provider of home infusion therapy, is seeking an experienced and compassionate Lead Infusion Nurse to join their new Portland, ME location. This is a unique opportunity to provide hands-on patient care while stepping into a leadership role that directly shapes the nursing team, care quality, and patient experience.
This full-time role offers a balanced Monday–Friday schedule (9am–5pm), competitive pay, and the chance to advance into a Nursing Director pathway within an expanding healthcare organization. Position Summary
The Lead Infusion Nurse will serve as both a clinical expert and mentor, overseeing the nursing team while providing direct infusion care in home and suite settings. This role ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices while fostering a culture of patient safety, empathy, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision Lead, mentor, and support infusion nurses across home and suite environments Provide training, coaching, and performance evaluations Act as the primary clinical resource for complex cases and troubleshooting Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of nursing staff Clinical Care Perform advanced vascular access (PICC, ports, midlines, peripheral IVs) Administer a wide range of infusion therapies (IVIG, TPN, biologics, anti-infectives, chemotherapy, pain/palliative, anti-inflammatory) Monitor patients during and after infusions, manage adverse reactions, and ensure safe use of infusion pumps Educate patients and caregivers on therapy plans, side effects, and post-care Operations & Compliance Coordinate staffing and scheduling for efficient workflows in home and suite care Collaborate with pharmacists, schedulers, and referral partners to ensure seamless patient care Ensure clinical documentation meets state, federal, and accreditor requirements (ACHC, URAC, Joint Commission) Support survey readiness, quality management, infection control, and performance improvement initiatives Patient Experience Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in all settings Collect and act on patient feedback to drive service improvements Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous quality improvement Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maine (required) 3–5 years of infusion nursing experience (home or clinic preferred), including therapies such as immunoglobulin, TPN, or specialty infusions Proficiency in vascular access techniques and infusion pump management BLS/CPR required; ACLS and CRNI certification preferred Licensed driver with an insured, reliable automobile Strong communication, teaching, and problem-solving skills Demonstrated ability to mentor staff and ensure compliance in a fast-paced environment What’s Offered Competitive base salary range of $95,000 – $140,000 (based on experience) Strong work-life balance with a Monday–Friday schedule Professional development opportunities and clear pathway to Nursing Director-level leadership ,
