Position Description

Job Overview – Psychiatric RN (Community Mental Health):

Compensation: $100,000/year

Location: Bronx, NY

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Join our client as a Psychiatric RN (Community Mental Health) in the Bronx, NY. In this role, you will provide community-based psychiatric nursing for young adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. Key responsibilities include health assessments, medication administration, and care coordination with prescribers and community providers. Using evidence-based, trauma-informed practices, you will support recovery, stability, and successful community integration.

Responsibilities as the Psychiatric RN:

  • Medication Management: Administer medications, monitor side effects, and ensure adherence to treatment plans.
  • Health Coordination: Collaborate with prescribers and coordinate comprehensive health and psychiatric services.
  • Clinical Documentation: Maintain accurate nursing assessments, progress notes, and reports in compliance with standards.
  • Community Collaboration: Work with families, hospitals, housing providers, and service organizations to support recovery.
  • Team Engagement: Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and apply trauma-informed, culturally sensitive approaches to care.

Qualifications for the Psychiatric RN:

  • Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New York required.
  • Experience: 3+ years of psychiatric nursing, substance use treatment, or social services experience with young adults.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in electronic documentation systems and computer-based communication tools.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of community-based mental health services, psychiatric care, and recovery-focused practices.
  • Skills & Attributes: Highly organized, self-motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills; bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
