Position Description

A nonprofit behavioral health organization in New York City is currently seeking a Registered Nurse to join their Young Adult Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team. This role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact by supporting young adults living with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders in the community.

About the Opportunity:

  • Hybrid or Remote: Community-based, mobile position (field and office)
  • Shift: Daytime
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday
  • Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
  • Setting: Community and home visits, with travel required throughout the boroughs
  • Additional: Participation in shared on-call rotation

Responsibilities:

  • Administering medications, including oral and intramuscular, and conducting health assessments
  • Monitoring mental health status, medication adherence, and addressing side effects
  • Coordinating care with prescribers, nurse practitioners, LPNs, and community providers
  • Providing psychoeducation, counseling, and recovery-oriented support to clients
  • Maintaining accurate, timely documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Participating in daily team meetings and rotating after-hours coverage

Qualifications:

  • Current New York State RN license
  • 1+ year of related experience; psychiatric or behavioral health nursing preferred
  • Experience with medication management and community-based healthcare
  • Proficient with computers and electronic medical records
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desired Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience in psychiatric nursing, substance use treatment, or community services
  • Spanish fluency a plus
  • Experience working with young adults or justice-involved populations
  • Trauma-informed care training
