Overview

The Emergency Department RN provides individualized, safe, and high-quality patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team. The role follows Wellstar’s nursing models, evidence-based practice, and professional nursing standards under Georgia law and the American Nurses Association. Nurses advocate for patients while supporting system policies and excellence goals.
 

Core Responsibilities

• Perform the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence-based practice and critical thinking.
• Deliver patient-centered care that respects cultural diversity and involves patients/families through effective communication methods.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure safe, well-documented, high-quality care within a professional, inclusive environment.
• Support recruitment, retention, and fiscal responsibility in nursing practice.
• Engage in performance improvement, research, and shared governance initiatives, leading or supporting efforts as needed.
• Complete ongoing education and professional competency assessments; serve as a mentor or preceptor to foster workforce development.
• Uphold organizational policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements including patient safety goals.
• Participate in protocol development and resource management for best practice outcomes and efficient care delivery.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required; BSN preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications:
  • RN license (single state or multi-state compact)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Skills:
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service abilities
  • Ability to perform well in fast-paced, emergency settings with strong critical thinking
  • Good time management and analytical nursing practice
