Job Summary:

The Special Workforce and Tactics (SWAT) RN Employee Health Nurse is a travel RN role serving as a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team dedicated to delivering individualized, high-quality, and safe care to patients and employees. This position operates across multiple clinical settings within the Wellstar enterprise under the supervision of the Clinical Manager of Employee Health and other leadership, aligned with the WellStar Shared Governance Model. Practice is guided by Occupational Health Nursing Standards, WellStar 5-Star Nursing principles, evidence-based research, and the WellStar Core Competencies.

This role requires 100% travel to all Wellstar Health System hospitals, health parks, and medical clinics within the designated region.

All SWAT RN Employee Health Nurses must maintain licensure and practice in accordance with the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association’s Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics. As part of the employee health team, the nurse advocates for patients/employees while adhering to system policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct occupational health screenings for new and existing employees.
• Participate in wellness and immunization programs.
• Track, manage, and report occupational exposures.
• Provide education on workplace safety.
• Assist in developing and implementing Employee Health policies and procedures.
• Travel to various sites as needed.

This role significantly impacts organizational health by promoting employee safety and controlling the spread of communicable diseases within the workforce.

• Ensure safe, high-quality care through inclusive interdisciplinary communication and timely documentation.
• Promote a respectful, diverse, and inclusive clinical environment.
• Support fiscal responsibility, recruitment, and retention efforts.
• Engage in performance improvement initiatives, research, and shared governance activities.

Professional Development & Leadership:

• Complete all required competency assessments and education.
• Serve as a preceptor or mentor to nurses and other healthcare professionals, fostering a skilled workforce and positive work environment.

Evidence-Based Practice & Compliance:

• Advocate for evidence-based nursing practices, research, and performance improvement.
• Uphold organizational policies, legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards (e.g., TJC, OSHA, CDC, ADA, state and federal regulations).
• Participate in data collection and consult experts to address clinical questions.

Resource Management:

• Plan care proactively across the care continuum.
• Collaborate on policy and protocol development to achieve best outcomes.
• Support efficient use of human and material resources.

Education & Licensing:

• Diploma from an accredited nursing program (required) or
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licenses & Certifications Required:

• Registered Nurse license (single state and multi-state compact)
• Basic Life Support (BLS), including Instructor and Provisional certifications.

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years nursing experience required.
• Occupational health experience preferred.

Skills:

• Proficient in computer and data entry.
• Effective communication with healthcare team members.
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work in fast-paced settings and respond calmly and decisively in emergencies.
• Adaptable to evolving occupational health regulations and practices.

Shift: Monday-Friday, four 10-hour shifts per week Minimum 2 years nursing experience required. Occupational health experience preferred.
