Position Description

Job Title: RN – ICU

Weekly Gross Pay :- $2,412.00

Location :- NYC, NY ,10029

Facility: Mount Sinai Health System

Start Date: 10/27/2025

Schedule: 3x12s | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every Other Weekend + 4th Shift/month

Hours: 34.5 hrs/week | 11.5 hrs/day

Requirement: Must have Cardiac ICU experience

Job Summary

The ICU Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse responsible for providing safe, high-quality care to critically ill patients in a cardiac-focused ICU environment. The role requires advanced critical care skills, rapid assessment, and evidence-based interventions, as well as collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team to support optimal patient outcomes.

Education & Certifications

  • Required: Associate’s Degree or higher in Nursing; NYS RN license; BLS & ACLS.
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Skills & Experience

Required:

  • Active NYS RN license.
  • BLS & ACLS (AHA required).
  • Minimum 2 years RN experience, with at least 2 years in critical care/tele.
  • Cardiac ICU experience (must-have).

Preferred:

  • BSN preferred (ASN considered with strong ICU experience or BSN enrollment).
  • EPIC EMR experience.
  • 1+ year of travel RN experience (preferred, not required for per diem).

Unit Details:

  • Avg Unit Census: 8 patients
  • ICU Beds: 8 per unit
  • Staffing Ratio: 1:2
  • Schedule: 3x12s, Nights (7p–7:30a), every other weekend + 4th shift/month

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Deliver nursing care based on the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care.
  • Assess, monitor, and evaluate critically ill patients, including those with advanced cardiac needs.
  • Integrate assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of ICU nursing care.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to develop and implement care plans.
  • Provide patient and caregiver education on condition management, recovery, and prevention.

Patient Experience

  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families in the ICU.
  • Conduct bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and patient education.
  • Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and professionalism in all patient interactions.
  • Escalate patient/family concerns appropriately.

Quality & Safety

  • Practice safe patient-centered care with adherence to ICU safety protocols.
  • Manage high-risk medications, advanced monitoring equipment, and life-support systems.
  • Escalate safety issues and participate in institutional quality improvement initiatives.
  • Accurately document care and interventions in the EMR (EPIC strongly preferred).

Operations & Professional Development

  • Perform charge nurse responsibilities as needed.
  • Ensure resource and supply utilization aligns with patient care needs.
  • Contribute to patient throughput and ICU workflow efficiency.
  • Participate in ongoing clinical education, unit councils, and performance improvement projects.
