Job Title: RN - Wound Care

Location: Brooklyn, NY - 11206 (Woodhull Medical Center)

Shift: 9AM - 7.30PM

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. The ideal candidate will have experience in wound, ostomy, and continence care, and will be responsible for performing assessments, developing individualized care plans, and delivering high-quality patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct focused health assessment interviews and physical assessments related to wound, ostomy, and continence care

Develop and revise individualized care plans; recommend appropriate medications and treatments

Evaluate and document patient responses to wound and ostomy treatments

Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and refer to specialists when necessary

Provide patient and family education on prevention and management of complications

Deliver staff education through orientations, in-services, and continuing education programs

Perform risk assessments for pressure injuries and initiate preventive measures

Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Nursing for Wound Care to recommend best practices

Participate in hospital-wide and departmental quality improvement initiatives

Maintain culturally competent and confidential care

Manage specialty equipment (e.g., specialty beds, negative pressure devices)

Refer patients to appropriate community resources as needed

Skills & Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience
• Experience in wound and colostomy care
• Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) from an accredited nursing program
• Licensure & Certifications:
• Active New York State RN License
• Primary Source Verification from NYSED
• AHA BLS Certification

At least one of the following wound care certifications (current and valid):

• CWOCN – Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (WOCNCB)
• CWON – Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (WOCNCB)
• CWCN – Certified Wound Care Nurse (WOCNCB)
• CWS – Certified Wound Specialist (ABWM)
• WCC – Wound Care Certified (NAWCO)
