Position Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse, Sr.

Job Type: Contract to Hire

Location: Sugar Land, Texas 77478

Work Schedule & Logistics: Preop: 06:00 AM – 2:30 PM, PACU: 07:30 AM – 4:00 PM (Monday - Friday)

Travel Requirement: Must be willing to rotate between three locations in Sugarland and Houston

Rate: Starting at $40.00/hourly

Basic Function Summary:

This RN position supports high-quality, age-specific care in a fast-paced ambulatory surgical and endoscopy setting. The nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, communicate effectively with all stakeholders, and uphold safety and quality standards. Care delivery will align with ASPAN, AORN, and SGNA guidelines.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and assist with exams and treatments.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and concise documentation in medical records.
  • Deliver age-specific, culturally sensitive patient care in accordance with ASPAN, AORN, and SGNA standards.
  • Participate in the preoperative call process and ensure patients are prepared for surgery.
  • Maintain unit readiness by stocking supplies and performing routine checks.
  • Modify and coordinate care for complex patients based on ongoing evaluations.
  • Report near misses and participate in performance improvement initiatives with the ASC Quality Team.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Maintain a safe environment by identifying and reporting hazards (e.g., broken equipment, blocked hallways).
  • Communicate delays and updates to patients’ families and team members.
  • Advocate for patients and families to resolve clinical or ethical concerns.
  • Build professional relationships with patients and physicians to assess satisfaction and improve service.
  • Educate patients on ASC policies to prevent misunderstandings.

Must-Have Qualifications/Experience:

  • Minimum of 2–3 years RN experience in Preoperative and/or Recovery (PACU) care.
  • Texas RN license in good standing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for Endoscopy and PACU roles.

Preferred Skills & Attributes:

  • Experience in multi-specialty surgical and endoscopy patient care.
  • Background in Pre-Admission Testing (PAT), Emergency Room (ER), Infusion Therapy, or Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) settings.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (preferred over ASN).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Strong basic computer skills and adaptability to electronic medical record systems.
  • Ability to build rapport across diverse teams and patient populations.
