Position Description
Overview
As an RN in the Surgery Department, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of the unit. You will work closely with nursing leadership to ensure high-quality patient care and facilitate the development of staff through education and training programs. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
● Supervise daily activities of the unit utilizing quality and cost-effective patient care principles
● Prioritize, reassign, and redistribute work, including scheduling and delegating workflow
● Review and reassign patient assignments based on continuity and skill level
● Coordinate scheduling and maintain appropriate staffing levels
● Coordinate orientation program and training of newly hired team members
● Coordinate staff education and specialized training programs
● Collaborate with management to resolve complex unit situations
● Evaluate and guide staff through coaching and provide immediate feedback
Schedule and Shift Details
● Shift: 6a-2:30p Mon-Fri. No weekends or holidays.
Languages
● Fluent English
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or higher
• Valid Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification/license
• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) certification/license in Iowa (IA)
• 3+ years of experience with Operating Room (OR)
