Job Type:Full Time | Daylight Monday thru Friday, work 5 8 ½ hour days, 0700-1530.

The Adult Psychiatric Unit is a 29-bed locked unit. The unit provides comprehensive mental health care to individuals between the ages of 18-59. Individuals over the age of 59 are evaluated for admission on an individual basis. Patients admitted to the unit have a primary DSM 5 diagnosis/es. However, patients may also have additional diagnoses, including, but not limited to Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, medical comorbidities, etc. Patients must be medically stable as a criteria for admission. Safety practices include 15-minute safety checks, staff monitoring of all community areas and staff presence during meals and visiting hours. Nursing care, daily psychiatric assessments, therapy and medication management are provided to meet the emotional, behavioral, physical, cultural, educational and spiritual needs of the adult patient population. How you'll contribute

A Nurse Manager (RN) who excels in this role:

  • Manages the Patient Care Team's delivery of personalized, efficient care with respect for patient's spiritual and cultural differences in accordance with the PA State Board of Nursing Licensure requirement and ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
  • Maintains a therapeutic partnership with patient, family and caregivers.
  • Anticipates situations that prevent/minimize adverse outcomes, promoting patient safety.
  • Collaborates with members of the Patient Care Team.
  • Demonstrates annual competencies for the Foundational Safety Behaviors: Brief skills, Debrief skills, Executive Patient Safety skills, Huddle skills, and the Learning Board.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patients, hospital, and employee-related information.
  • Maintains accountability for the productivity following the flexible-staffing plan.
  • Schedules monthly staff meetings and records minutes.
  • Maintains proficiency in all aspects of required computer program software.
  • Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of patient's rights and patient responsibilities.
  • Approves all records supporting employee compensation.
  • Applies key financial indicators in decision making.Reviews monthly budget and records/explains variances to stay within current fiscal year budget.
  • Adheres to all regulatory requirements.
  • Focus is on Core Measure compliance.
  • Facilitates in Process Improvement utilizing the National Data Base of Nursing Quality Indicators, Lean Six Sigma methodology, along with other internal assessments to improve patient outcomes.
  • Accurate departmental charges.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current state RN license and be a Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN. Additional requirements include:

  • MSN or MS in health care preferred

  • Minimum of three years in acute care setting

  • Experience in caring for patients with diseases specific to the patient care area preferred
