Status: Full-Time (36 hours/week)

Overview

Join our 22-bed Medical Stepdown Unit!

Medical Stepdown is a unit that specializes in the care of acutely ill medical patients. We primarily focus on those suffering from respiratory failure and/or other general medical problems that are acutely ill.

  • Patient population may include: Bipaps, High Flow Oxygen, Tracheostomies, and Ventilated Tracheostomies, Respiratory Failure, Gastrointestinal Bleeds, Alcohol Withdrawal, Drug Overdose, Severe Sepsis, End of Life Care
  • This unit requires excellent critical thinking skills and quick decision making skills
  • Close relationship with pulmonologist
  • Due to the diverse nature this unit provides numerous educational opportunities for our coworkers.
  • 22– patient bed unit
  • RN ratio 3-4 patients, with tech support
  • 24/7 Leadership support
  • Collaborate daily with Care Management team, PT and OT, dieticians and pharmacists

Qualifications

Education & Licensure:

  • Graduate from an accredited registered nursing program
  • Must hold and maintain a current RN license for the hiring state or hold a compact nursing license
  • Comply with all state nursing board requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Prolonged standing and walking throughout shifts
  • Capable of gripping, reaching, bending, kneeling, twisting, and squatting as needed

Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) — Required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) — Required or must complete within 30 days of hire
  • Additional unit-specific certifications as required, with timelines for acquisition
