Job Summary
Description - External
The wound ostomy continence (WOC) Nurse assumes roles of clinician, consultant, change agent, educator, and participates in research activities. They provide expert clinical consultation and education to nurses, family, patient, and RC regarding their responsibilities for coordinating all aspects of managing and delivering quality, cost effective patient and family centered care specifically in the areas of wound ostomy and continence. The WOC Nurse collaborates with the nurse and RC to assure that all patients have a comprehensive plan of care that provides continuity across all settings. The WOC Nurse acts as a resource to the nurse in providing patient/family education. The WOC Nurse evaluates the quality of care through data analysis, direct observation, chart review, and collaboration with the health care team, administrators, nursing quality, and wound care collaboratives.

Other Certificate/Diploma Nursing Required Or BSN Preferred
Licenses and Credentials
Valid and current license to practice as an RN in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Experience
3+ years Wound care experience preferred.

Required
Qualifications - External
- Completion of Debridement Workshop.
- Medium physical demands including constant standing, walking, hearing and vision, intermittent bending, pushing, pulling, carrying, lifting, and lowering of 20-50 pounds of force.
- Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical examination
- Three to five years of relevant clinical experience.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited School
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Current Wound and Ostomy certification by a nationally accredited certifying body (WOCNCB preferred).
- WOCNCB sets the standard for wound, ostomy, and continence nursing certification by validating nurses’ knowledge to provide safe, patient-centered care.
Education

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Perform this job successfully within the scope of nursing, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be able to demonstrate any knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients serviced in his/her assigned department Certifications in CPR, or PALS, ACLS, and BLS may be required upon hire for specific patient care units.
