Position Description

About the Role:

As a Registered Nurse at Rochester Gastroenterology Associates (RGA), you will play a critical role in delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients with gastrointestinal conditions. Your primary focus will be to provide direct patient care, ensuring that each individual receives personalized and compassionate treatment throughout their healthcare journey. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to implement care plans, monitor patient progress, and educate patients and their families about their conditions and treatments. This role demands a strong commitment to patient advocacy, ensuring that patients' needs and concerns are addressed promptly and effectively. Ultimately, your contributions will enhance patient outcomes and support the overall mission of RGA to provide exceptional gastroenterology care.This position will be for our Canal landing location.



Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Completion of an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience in medical/surgical nursing or a related clinical area.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide direct patient care and patient education.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Certification in Gastroenterology Nursing (CGRN) or related specialty.
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring and wound care management.
  • Previous experience working in a gastroenterology or outpatient specialty clinic.
  • Advanced certifications such as ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care including assessment, monitoring, and documentation of patient conditions in a gastroenterology setting.
  • Perform wound care and manage patients requiring telemetry monitoring as part of their treatment plan.
  • Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatment options, medication management, and post-procedure care to promote optimal health outcomes.
  • Advocate for patients by coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and individualized care.
  • Support medical and surgical nursing interventions, assist with procedures, and maintain accurate and timely nursing records.
  • Collaborate with nurse practitioners and physicians to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Deliver specialized nursing care to pediatric patients when applicable, adapting approaches to meet developmental needs.

Skills:

The required skills such as direct patient care and patient education are essential for daily interactions with patients, ensuring they understand their conditions and treatments. Wound care and telemetry skills are applied regularly to monitor patient status and manage complex clinical needs effectively. Patient advocacy is a continuous practice, enabling the nurse to act as a liaison between patients and the healthcare team to optimize care delivery. Medical and surgical nursing skills support the execution of treatment plans and assist in procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort. Pediatric nursing skills, when applicable, allow the nurse to tailor care approaches to younger patients, ensuring age-appropriate communication and interventions.
