A rewarding opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse to provide dedicated, one-on-one care for a non-verbal 1st grade student in an elementary school setting near Moravia, NY, with surrounding areas considered. This contract position follows the school calendar year schedule and offers a consistent Monday through Friday workweek from 7:30 AM to 2:30/3:00 PM. When all assigned duties are completed for the day, the nurse may leave at 2:30 PM while still receiving full-day pay. A duty-free lunch break is provided.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Monitoring and maintaining tracheostomy care, including suctioning
• Assisting with activities of daily living such as feeding
• Providing supervision during academic electives when the student transitions out of the special education classroom
• Offering academic support aligned with student needs
• Ensuring the student's health and safety in the school environment
  
  

The student does not display aggressive behaviors, creating a supportive atmosphere for nursing care.

Preferred Qualifications And Skills

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with experience in school nursing or pediatric care
• Familiarity with tracheostomy care and suctioning procedures
• Experience working with special education populations, especially early elementary age children
• Ability to support ADLs including feeding
• Bilingual Spanish skills are highly desirable to enhance communication and support
