Position Description

An esteemed health and human services organization in New York City is currently seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for their Young Mothers Program. This crucial role involves supporting mothers struggling with addiction, providing comprehensive care in a supportive environment.

About the Opportunity:

  • Hybrid or Remote: On-site
  • Shift: Day and evening shifts available
  • Schedule: 6:00am - 2:00pm or 3:00pm - 11:00pm
  • Hours: 35 hours per week with a 1-hour unpaid lunch
  • Setting: Treatment center for mothers and children

Responsibilities:

The Licensed Practical Nurse will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with patient care including checking vital signs, administering injections, and performing tests
  • Recording patient medical history and entries in computer systems
  • Following orders from physicians and registered nurses
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of care provided
  • Preparing and maintaining patient charts and records

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience as an LPN
  • Graduate of Technical or Vocational LPN Program
  • NYS LPN licensure and BLS certification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Health Records (EHR)
  • Ability to multi-task with excellent organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse backgrounds
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent bedside manner and observational skills
  • Team player with independent working ability

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Addiction, Psychiatric, and Mental Health care
  • High School or GED diploma
  • Bilingual Spanish proficiency preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Strong empathy and emotional support skills
