An opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse with NICU experience to provide specialized care in a high-acuity neonatal environment. This contract role involves delivering compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to neonates experiencing a range of conditions such as respiratory distress.

Positioned in Alabaster, AL, this role allows you to serve in a community known for its welcoming atmosphere and Southern charm. With a balance of suburban tranquility and convenient access to major urban centers, Alabaster offers a comfortable living environment and rich local amenities.

Schedule/Hours

• 12-hour day shifts, 6:45 AM 7:15 PM
• Required to work every other weekend
  
  

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical care to neonates in a 43-bed NICU with 32 rooms
• Manage patient assignments based on acuity, commonly maintaining a nurse-to-patient ratio of 3:1, with adjustments to 2:1 or 1:1 for higher acuity cases
• Perform specialized procedures including arterial sticks, chest tube management, maintenance of cooling blankets, and peripheral IV placement
• Utilize Cerner electronic health records for accurate and timely documentation
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement patient care plans and participate in family-centered care
  
  

Qualifications And Experience

• Valid RN licensure with current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Prior NICU nursing experience with familiarity in managing respiratory distress and other neonatal conditions
• Competence in specialized NICU procedures and adherence to safety protocols
• Effective communication skills and ability to work efficiently in a dynamic critical care setting
