We have a fantastic opportunity for a Vascular Access Nurse at City of Hope Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, you are the forefront of providing specialized and compassionate care to patients undergoing chemotherapy. This role is multifaceted, encompassing a range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the well-being of patients and supporting them through their cancer treatment journey. The nurse will primarily spend most of their time in VAD but will be cross trained to assist in the infusion clinic in the afternoon.

- Eligible for Sign-On Bonus up to: $20,000.00
- Monday through Friday 7am-330pm or 7:30am -400pm
- No Weekends or Holidays
- Feel comfortable accessing central venous catheters, (such as PICC lines, tunneled catheters, and implanted ports), peripheral IVs, arterial catheters.
- Inserting vascular access devices: This involves carefully placing the device into a vein or artery.
- Monitor and maintain vascular access regularly to ensure proper function and detect any signs of complications, such as infection or thrombosis. Perform routine maintenance checks, such as flushing the device or changing dressings.
- Educating patients and caregivers about the maintenance of the devices. Provide instructions on how to keep the site clean, recognizing signs of complications, and troubleshooting common problems.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' health status before, during, and after chemotherapy infusion sessions.
- Monitor and document vital signs, symptoms, and overall response to treatment.
- Assist patients in managing and coping with side effects and complications arising from cancer treatment
- Schedule and facilitate follow-up appointments, actively participating in the continuity of care.
- Collaborating with other team members including physicians, nurse practitioners, and radiologists, to coordinate care for patients. Work together to develop treatment plans, address complications, and ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or master’s degree in nursing
- Three to five years related experience (oncology)
- Current California Registered Nurse license
- Current BLS certification from American Heart Association
- Chemobiotherapy Immunotherapy ONS Certification
- National certification (must obtain within three years and must be maintained thereafter to retain Clin III status)
