This position will assess, develop, implement, monitor and manage the Infection Prevention Control program and lead the education program at the MN Veterans Home-Luverne.

This is a part-time position primarily scheduled on the day shift. The work schedule will include at least 64 hours per two-week pay period and may include additional work hours, based on business needs. The position is initially eligible for full employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions and in good standing. If you are not currently licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse, you must be able to obtain licensure by date of hire.
  • Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse working in a long-term health care setting with primary responsibility for assessing nursing and health needs
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to skilled nursing and state survey
  • Knowledge of training and development practices and methods including needs assessment and instruction design
  • Knowledge of learning theories and principals including adult learning theory
  • Ability to conduct classroom training using video, audio and other types of equipment to develop and present training, and to use small group facilitation tools
  • Advanced knowledge of skilled nursing sufficient to educate and provide direction to staff, residents and others on infection prevention and control.
  • Advanced knowledge of skilled nursing with the ability to mentor and educate staff on how to provide effective resident centered nursing care, follow policies and procedures and which decisions can be made within each scope of nursing and certification.
  • Knowledge of adult learning, training methods, and measurement of learning or understanding including needs assessment, instructional design, and evaluation of successful learning.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of infection prevention and control sufficient to prevent transmission of epidemiologically important pathogens, prevent and control outbreaks, report communicable diseases, and follow-up on blood borne pathogen exposures
  • Organization and recordkeeping skills sufficient to accurately report data and status information various state and federal reporting systems.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years or more years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a skilled nursing facility
  • Registered Nurse experience specialized in developing and implementing infection prevention and control strategies
  • Registered Nurse experience in developing and implementing education program
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Nursing or related degree program
