Job Description

Position: Open Heart/Thoracic PCU. --post heart surgery experience required.

SCHEDULING DETAILS AND CHARTING

==============================

• Shift hours 3x12s, 645p-715a
• 4x12s available upon request
• up to 52 weeks available by request
• Charting: EPIC experience required
• Weekend Requirement: May be EOW or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• RTO: ALL requests must be included with the submission.
  
  

**Unable to approve any Christmas RTO**

• Call off Policy: Facility is allowed to call off 1 shift per 2-weeks.
• Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract.
• Accept First-Time Travelers: Yes, depending on experience
• Prefer experience at a 250+ hospital
• Locals Accepted? Radius Rule: Yes, locals accepted. Refer to the Submittal Instructions for radius rule criteria.
• Pending License Accepted: Yes, only if the candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state. Otherwise, submission must include an active Virginia State or Compact RN/LPN license.

Required Clinical Skills

• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, activation of Rapid Response/Code teams
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central/peripheral line care
• Administration and management of cardiac drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix ? no titration)
• Respiratory support (nasal cannula, oxygen delivery, non-invasive airway management)
  
  

UNIT DETAILS AND FLOATING

• Ratios: 1:4-5 (Goal ratio is 4:1; however, consistently work at a 5:1 ratio)
• Primary focus: This unit is the Open Heart/Thoracic ICU's PCU/Stepdown unit.
  
  

Trauma Resident and Mid-level in house. Most patients are specific to this patient population

• Remote telemetry with monitors on unit; tele sitting implemented
• Floating required within skillset
