Registered Nurse/Educator

Oversite of all educational needs of the department.

Principal Accountabilities (including but not limited to)

• Patient Assessment; Perform systematic, comprehensive, and accurate assessments. Assess potential discharge needs during the initial assessment process.
• Monitor effects of medications and treatments and report adverse effects in a timely manner. Assess patient for pain level.
• Provide appropriate intervention, reassessment, and documentation.
• Systematically monitor the maintenance of protocols, standards, and plans of care.
• Plans and provides individualized patient education.
• Demonstrate competent clinical skills.
• Perform nursing-related skills and activities competently. Analyze situations critically. Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
• Identify and document realistic long and short-term goals. Complete interdisciplinary plan of care record. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and revise the plan of care as needed. Recognize and evaluate patient and family responses to therapies and nursing interventions.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team. Complete hand-off communication and give complete reports to other caregivers.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and time management skills necessary for effective patient care. Assume responsibility and accountability for the safe nursing care of assigned patients.
• Delegate responsibilities appropriately to others. Conducts regular patient rounds to ensure safety and enhance patient experience.
• Actively participates in daily interdisciplinary huddles to support coordinated care. Utilizes approved clinical communication tools (e.g., Vocera, Rover) in accordance with organizational standards.
• Adhere to OSHA, Joint Commission, Standards of Nursing Practice supported by NJ BON, professional association, ANA Code of Ethics & Scope of Standards and Practice NJ Board of Health, and hospital standards.
• Use two patient identifiers and check allergies before medication administration.
• Follow hand washing protocols and maintain isolation precautions. Properly use and store equipment, checking expiration dates. Demonstrate leadership and function as a resource/mentor. Actively participates in Shared Governance.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Graduate or GED. BSN required
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical practice
• Maintain NJ RN license
  
  
  

Preferred

• Experience with primarily general and oncological surgery patients, inclusive of abdominal, colorectal, renal/kidney surgeries
