Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg General Surgical Dept

Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104

Work hours: PRN “As Needed” Days/Nights - Rotating Weekends/Holidays – PRN I requires a minimum of 1 shift per six- week schedule.

  • The General Surgical Nurse provides care to a wide variety of post op patients including: complex gastro-intestinal and abdominal surgeries and plastics related wound care cases requiring ostomy, drain and wound vac management.
  • MAGNET facility
  • Level I Trauma Center

Here’s What You Need

  • Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required
  • BSN preferred
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting required
  • 2-years experience as a clinical nurse in an acute care setting preferred

What You Will Do

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process

  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
