Job Summary And Qualifications
Cardiac Registered Nurse – RN
Full time (Monday - Friday, day shift), no nights, no on-call, no weekends, no holidays
TheCardiacRegistered Nurse–RNprovides professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices.The registered nurse cardiac -vascular possesses advanced knowledge and skill in the area of cardiac nursing.The registered cardiac -vascular nursedemonstratescritical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the care of the patient.
What you will do in this role:
Uses critical thinking skills to assess facts and make rational decisions quickly and effectively when working with patients who have heart complications
Participates as part of an interdisciplinary care team in the treatment of cardiac – vascular conditions such as heart failure, heart valve disorders, high blood pressure, vascular disorders, heart attack and arrythmia
Interprets data and responds to urgent situations in a way thatoptimizespatient care and produces positive outcomes.
Usesanalytical skills to review test results, draw conclusions, and advise on treatment plans.
Performs and interprets various cardiac and vascular lab tests
Works closely with cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, electrophysiologists, and other physicians in the care and treatment of full range of cardiovascular conditions
Participates in clinical trials and clinical research programs as per clinic needs
Documents legible and concise entries in the medical record.
Documents complete medical history on each patientoninitialsession and updated medicalrecordappropriately with each visit.
Performsappropriate patientpreparation for each visit and/or procedure.
Performs medication reconciliation on each visit.
Educates patients on cardiovascular diseases, including but not limited to preventive measures
Helps diagnose and treat cardiovascular events
Assistsin performing diagnostic tests such as ECG’s, EKG’s
Initiatives Holter and Event monitors
Interacts with the patients as well as their families pre and post treatment
Monitors the patient and their vitals, especially cardiovascular readings
Assesses and interprets lab results
Possesses knowledge of ACC/AHA guidelines related to heart failure
Makes critical decisions concerning the initiative of emergency medical procedures as appropriate
Maintains an orderly, efficient, andtimelyflow of patients.
Greetspatients andpreparesthem forphysician’sexamination.
Provides general nursing care to patients as necessary for office treatment.
Screens patients forappropriate information.
Instructs patients incollectionof samples and tests.
Arrangesfor patient testing and admissions.
Checksrooms daily for necessary supplies.
Responds to andrefersincoming telephone calls.
Instructs patients and familyregardingmedications and treatment instructions.
Maintains and reviews patients’ records and other pertinent information.
Poststests and examination results.
Maintains patientconfidentially.
Administers medicationsin accordance withphysician orders.
Maintains current knowledge toassurea safe working environment anddemonstratespractical application of all policies and proceduresrelativeto safety and infection control.
Utilizes universal precautions in any potential contact with patient body fluids or used patient supplies that may be contaminated with patient body fluids.
Projects a positive image of the facility in all interactions and supporting effective team functioning.
What Qualifications you will need:
EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing isrequired.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum ofthree yearsregisterednurse cardiac -vascular experience in an acute care or cardiology clinic settingrequired. Experience to include
