Nueva Hospice is a Scottsdale-based home hospice dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered end-of-life care. Compensation

  • $60–$100 per patient visit, based on visit type and complexity

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Per Diem Registered Nurse (RN) to join Nueva Hospice as an independent contractor for an initial 60-day contract term. This role involves completing hospice nursing visits throughout Maricopa County on an as-needed basis.

This 60-day contract role is designed as a starting point, with strong potential to grow into a part-time and eventually full-time employee position based on performance, availability, and organizational needs.

The position offers flexible scheduling, competitive per-visit compensation, and the opportunity to build a long-term role within our care team.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver hands-on, individualized nursing care focused on comfort, dignity, and quality of life

  • Administer treatments and medications that enhance the patient’s daily comfort

  • Perform comprehensive assessments, case management, and symptom management in accordance with the plan of care

  • Provide clear, straightforward updates to patients, families, and the care team to ensure alignment and confidence in the care plan

  • Educate families on managing care at home, helping them feel prepared, knowledgeable, and empowered

  • Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to tailor care plans that reflect each patient’s unique needs

  • Supervise and collaborate with LPNs and hospice aides as assigned

  • Maintain detailed, accurate, and timely documentation in the EMR to track progress and uphold the highest standards of care

  • Communicate changes in patient condition promptly and effectively

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona or a compact licensure state

  • Minimum 1 year of hospice or palliative care experience (preferred)

  • Experience in case management, symptom management, and palliative nursing (preferred)

  • Prior experience supervising LPNs or hospice aides (preferred)

  • Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid hospice regulations and documentation standards

  • Strong assessment, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Proficiency with EMR systems and electronic documentation

  • Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation required

  • Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain)

  • Must pass a background check and have an active fingerprint clearance card

Physical & Scheduling Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, assist with patient transfers, and perform physical nursing tasks

  • Flexible availability required, including participation in on-call rotation as needed

Schedule & Coverage Area

  • Per diem / PRN assignments

  • Coverage throughout Maricopa County

Growth Opportunity

This role begins as a 60-day independent contractor position, with the opportunity to expand into a part-time role and ultimately transition into a full-time Registered Nurse position based on performance, reliability, availability, and census growth.
