Qualifications

Required:

  • Graudate from an NLN Accredited Nursing Program
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Minimum (1) one year recent/current cath lab/cardiac non-invasive lab experience
  • Strong critical thinking and assessment skills
  • Venipuncture Certification
  • Dysrhythmia course certificate
  • Rhythm Interpretation: has completed dysrhythmia course certificate in education file; identifies rhythm strips accurately,

Preferred

  • BSN

Certifications And Licenses Required

  • BLS from the American Heart Association
  • ACLS Certification
  • Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement

Scheduling Requirements

  • Per Diem
  • Monday-Friday 8a-2p weekends 8a-1p
  • 1 shift per week, 1 shift weekend per month
  • 1 summer holiday (Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day
  • 1 winter holiday (New Year's Day, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day)

Essential Functions

  • The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
  • Perform Stress test procedures
  • The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available.
  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.
  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.
  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
  • The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs.

Other Duties

  • Records appropriate documentation in patient medical records
  • Accurately completes daily log books with procedures performed
  • Ensures reports are corrected and finalized as per physician
  • Review charts for completion before filing
  • Rhythm Interpretation: has completed dysrhythmia course certificate in education file; identifies rhythm strips accurately
  • Demonstrates time management in organizing the daily schedule to optimize patient throughput,
  • Utilizes strong organizational skills in scheduling and procedure prioritization to minimize delays and ensure efficiency of daily schedule
  • Ensures adequate supplies and medications are available in procedure rooms
  • Returns unused medications appropriately to Pyxis
  • Informs management of supply replenishment needs in a timely manner
  • Has knowledge of the location of all supplies and equipment in the CNIL suite
  • Ensures emergency equipment (crash cart, suction, monitors and defibrillators) is maintained and in proper working order
  • Checks crash cart every month for expired medication and signs off in log book as per hospital policy
  • Implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and Nursing Department
  • Performs assessment and reassessment of patients before, during, and after diagnostic procedures
  • Communicates assessment data and findings with other members of the clinical team to render optimum patient care
  • Utilizes the nursing process with a multidisciplinary approach in the delivery of patient care
  • Airway Management: demonstrates understanding/states proper procedure for suctioning; demonstrates application of supplemental oxygen nasal cannula mask Ambu- bag; demonstrates understanding/states proper procedure for maintaining an open airway
  • Cardiac/Respiratory Arrest Management: States proper mechanism for activating cratory arrest mechanisms; demonstrates understanding of code cart check; states procedure for replacing items on code cart
  • Cardio version: demonstrates/states procedure per hospital policy; demonstrates/states use of synch button; demonstrates/states placement of paddles
  • Pre, during and Post Assessment: demonstrates/states procedure for assessing patient prior, during & post cardiac non-invasive procedure
