As your outgoing president and treasurer, we are so excited to announce the chapter's new leadership. We have been honored to serve our community of hospice and palliative care nursing professionals and look forward to seeing the chapter continue to thrive under our new leadership!

Metro NY HPNA chapter is proud to introduce this year’s newly elected chapter leaders.
Newly elected for two year term:
President Beth Schack
Elizabeth Schack, a California native, received her Gerontological Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist degrees from University of California, San Francisco, and is Board Certified as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse. In 2005, she was the first Nurse Practitioner hired to create the inpatient Palliative Care Consult Service at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She is passionate about changing the culture in the acute hospital setting so that palliative care is better understood through mentoring, education, champion programs, research, and involvement in professional organizations.
Treasurer Shila Pandey
Shila Pandey joined the inpatient Supportive Care Service at Memorial Sloane Kettering Hospital in October 2018 as a palliative care nurse practitioner. She worked as an inpatient palliative care nurse practitioner at Columbia University Medical Center/NYP for two years, where she also acted as a co-coordinator for an interdisciplinary palliative care resource champion (IPRC) program and participated in communication skills training for fellows and residents. She co-presented a poster on the IPRC at the 2018 Annual Assembly. She is board certified as an Adult Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Practice Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing with subspecialty in palliative care at New York University and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the College of New Rochelle. Shila worked as a Registered Nurse at NYU Langone Medical center for over 8 years in medical-surgical, step-down, and intensive care units.
Our chapter Vice President Lara Wahlberg and Secretary Jana Lipson Cohen will continue to serve through the year.
