How to Keep Doing What You Do: Lessons from Life and Other Disasters!.

Learn more about the impact of compassion fatigue and its relationship to self-care and resilience, identify effective personal and team-specific strategies to manage hospice and palliative nursing practice stressors, and find out how to conduct a self-assessment for signs of compassion fatigue and techniques for improved self-care strategies.
Ms. Schmal holds extensive nursing experience in both acute critical care and post-acute hospice care, and was first certified in hospice nursing in 1996. She served as board president for the Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center, was the RN representative on the HPCC Exam Development Committee, and serves as a national CHPN certification review course faculty for HPNA. Ms. Schmal is also a designated member of HPNA's RN Professional Development Advisory Council, and is a faculty member for HPNA's upcoming RN Educational Design Pathway project. She has taught certification sessions over the past 10 years in a variety of settings, and remains passionate about certification and its role in equipping nurses to provide excellent care for patients and families with serious illness.

The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation (ANCC) under provider number P0284. Successful course completion earns the RN participant 1.0 continuing nursing education (CNE) award (60 minutes/contact hour). This course is offered to all interested participants as a continuing nursing education service. To receive CNE award, participants must be registered, attest to attendance, and complete/submit a post-activity evaluation within the time frame designated. No partial CNE credit will be awarded.
Use the link below to access the webinar on January 22. You do not need to pre-register but can join a few minutes before the start time. If you have multiple HPNA members participating from the same computer, only the person logged in will receive the evaluation and CE credit. If additional members want to participate from a single location, they should log in to the system from a separate computer or mobile device to receive the evaluation.
