US hospitals brace for surge in coronavirus cases

As the rapid spread of an emerging coronavirus overwhelms hospitals in China, hospitals in the US are taking steps to ensure they can manage a surge of cases in the US if it happens. Some hospitals have created new emergency plans, covering triage protocols, cancellation of elective procedures and reallocation of space to manage a flood of patients, and leaders say a framework for open communication between hospitals and from hospitals to the public is also critical.
