ANA and HealthCom Media (publishers of our official journal, American Nurse) partnered with Al Roker Entertainment to produce a special television documentary that aired nationwide earlier this year. This video is available for all nurses to view for a fee, but it is free for ANA members.

American Nurse Heroes tells the REAL stories of nurses, policy makers, educators, innovators, and frontline workers who won’t stop until the fight against COVID-19 is won. Hear ANA President Ernest Grant, PhD, RN, FAAN, open the program with a compelling introduction, and then listen to stories and experiences from:

Kathleen Blaney, MPH, RN, ANA member: Kathleen’s innovation built the program for COVID-19 contact tracing in New York City, including onboarding thousands of tracers remotely.

Fidelindo (Fidel) Lim, DNP, CCRN, an ANA-New York member: Fidel speaks to his specific experiences of continuing to educate nursing students throughout the pandemic and the importance of continuing to train nurses who will be starting their careers during a “high-stakes” time.

Tarik Khan, MSN, RN, FNP-BC, a Pennsylvania State Nurses Association member: Tarik co-founded the “Angel Dose” program that brought leftover COVID-19 vaccine doses to homebound members of his Philadelphia community. At the time the documentary aired, Tarik had vaccinated over 1,600 people.

Shumi Mazzacano, ADN, RN, ANA member: Shumi’s empathy and compassion are apparent as she discusses working to keep patients with COVID-19 connected to their families when physical visits were impossible.
