The Center for Nursing at the Foundation of NYS Nurses, located in Guilderland, NY is pleased announce our annual scholarship, named the Nightingale Scholarship, for a New York graduating High School Senior. This $5,000 scholarship is for a senior who is accepted to attend a NYS Registered Nursing (RN) Program full time beginning the fall semester after graduation. The award will be presented to the student at our annual Nightingale Gala which is taking place on September 30, 2023 at the Albany Marriott in Albany, NY.
The Center for Nursing at the Foundation of NYS Nurses is celebrating its 48th year as a statewide non-profit organization whose primary mission is to drive excellence in care delivery by supporting the working professional nurse with mentoring, educational advancement and research. The Center for Nursing houses numerous historical records and artifacts depicting the nursing profession across several decades as well as across the globe. Working in collaboration with several other nursing, health and academic institutions, the Center for Nursing is dedicated to supporting and expanding the pipeline and diversity of RNs in NY through scholarship.
The Nightingale Scholarship is intentionally named after Florence Nightingale who was a nurse pioneer in London in the late 1800’s whose foresight, influence and perseverance changed the art and science of nursing forever. She is known as leader, teacher, mentor, entrepreneur, statistician…the list goes on and on. In honor of Nightingale’s many accomplishments and in response to the need for young people to enter the profession of nursing, the Center for Nursing is proud to offer this scholarship on an annual basis.
