Workplace Violence Has No Cure. But We Can Do More To Fight It.

The time is now for Congress to address workplace violence against emergency nurses.

It’s not just a feeling – workplace violence has become more frequent and severe:

  • BLS data reported in 2023 that health care workers account for 48% of workplace assaults NATIONWIDE, although they only make up 10% of the workforce.

And it was pervasive well before COVID-19:

  • In 2018, health care workers accounted for 73% of violence-related injuries resulting in missed workdays; and
  • Serious workplace violence was six times more common for hospital workers

The Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Service Workers Act, H.R. 2531/ S. 1232, would require health care and social service employers to develop and implement workplace violence prevention plans.

ENA needs your help to tell your representatives and senators that taking action on workplace violence in health care is an urgent priority.
