The theme for this Summit could not be more timely or essential: “The Challenge: Unraveling the Mysteries of AI.” Last month, when the US Department of Health and Human Services issued its report, Make America Healthy Again, it became apparent almost immediately that artificial intelligence was at least somewhat responsible for its contents. Several of its many references were fabricated.

Dr. Marilyn Oermann warned us about AI’s potential to produce misinformation and hallucinate studies in a guest editorial in Nursing Education Perspectives: “You Cannot Search the Literature Using Artificial Intelligence, and This Is Why” (Vol. 45, No. 6). AI has enormous potential to transform health care and has pivotal implications for nursing education.
