Patricia Blair  

Dr. Patricia Blair is an exemplary nurse, nurse attorney and professor of nursing.  Introduced to correctional nursing in law school, Dr. Blair has dedicated more than 20 years to supporting correctional nurses through her law practice and through her teaching presentations that informed correctional nurses about the legal aspects of correctional nursing - scope of practice, the mission and function of Nurse Practice Acts and State Boards of Nursing as well their legal responsibilities.  She has recently developed and conducted a correctional nursing certificate course through the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) to further support correctional nursing practice.  We congratulate Dr. Blair as the 2025 Correctional Nurse of the Year and thank her for her priceless wisdom and dedication to correctional nursing practice.
