Legislation Updates

New Laws:

P.L.2025, c.205.

Summary: Requires boards of education to ensure that all staff are trained in care of students with epilepsy and seizure disorders every five years.

P.L.2025, c.240.

Summary: Clarifies which health care professional may provide documentation to the school district of need for home instruction due to the student's health condition.

Bill: ACR165 P.L.2025, c.195.

Summary: Requires guidelines on student use of internet-enabled devices to be developed by DOE and policy to be adopted by the governing body of each public school.

P.L.2025, c.104.

Summary: Requires public and certain nonpublic schools to comply with breakfast and lunch standards adopted by USDA.

Introduced in the 2026-2027 Session:

S944 (This is the “Neffy Bill” that has been re-introduced after failing to pass in the last legislative session)

Summary: Expands epinephrine administration mechanisms permitted in schools, institutions of higher education, and youth camps.

Status: Introduced in the Senate, Referred to Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee on 1/13/2026.
